Recently we’ve hosted several small weddings ranging in size from just the bride, groom, and celebrant to small groups of up to thirty in attendance. Certainly the economy has something to do with it, and some folks just can’t afford a large wedding with several hundred guests.
On the other hand, many young people are cost conscious, choosing to save their money for a down payment on a home or some other important reason. With the average wedding in this country costing about $25,000.00 there is ample room for savings.
Our small weddings have cost the new couple anywhere from just a few hundred dollars to just a few thousand dollars depending on the brides attire, the number and type of rooms and the after wedding reception or dinner. Many couples have a small reception or dinner at the Allegheny Grille or a light catered affair on our river deck.
Our couples have sometimes used our Mayor as the celebrant or brought their own minister. Often they have a friend or two who will either sing, play instruments and read scripture or poems.
Foxburg has many venues for small, beautiful weddings. We’ve had couples marry on the hotel’s river deck overlooking the Allegheny River. Others have wed on the bridge connecting the hotel and The Allegheny Grille restaurant. Some have chosen one of the various beautiful water treatments or gardens. Lincoln Hall, our local churches and the Foxburg Country Club are very nice settings for small indoor weddings.
If you’re planning to get married and want a small, economical, but beautiful wedding, we can help. Contact us and we will do our best to make your special day a wonderful experience you will treasure.

Last weekend the first Horseshoes for Life tournament was a success at RiverStone Farm. The Clarion University team won the tournament from a field of nine teams. The Bike Trail was filled with hikers and bikers. The Foxburg Country Club opened the golf course and we had some folks from Canada take advantage of our “Stay and Play” Package.
There have been Canoes and Kayaks on the Allegheny and Clarion Rivers and some folks Fishing from the shores. The Segway Guided Tours are now up and running again on RiverStone Farm. Saturday brought many Motorcycles to the Foxburg Wine Cellar, Allegheny Grille and the Foxburg Pizza and Country Store.

Nothing lights up the brain like play.
Play, especially social play, is important, and even practical, in our lives. Check out this video of Dr. Stuart Brownpresenting at the TED Conference in May 2008. Dr. Brown has done significant research on the merits of play as major factor leading to success in both children and adults.
Foxburg is a Playground for many recreational activities. Explore the TED website and the National Institute for Play to learn more about Dr. Brown and his findings. And then explore more opportunities to play in your life.
Get smarter, feel better, play more at home and in Foxburg!

We’re always looking for great events to bring to Foxburg, and we’ve got one coming up April 3 and 4 that’s unique.
The Foxburg Inn is partnering with Horseshoes for Life to bring elite students from a number of area colleges to Foxburg for a weekend of activities.
Horseshoes for Life is a leading manufacturer of indoor and outdoor rubber horseshoes and pitching equipment. They’re headed by Three-Time World Horseshoe-pitching Champion Dan Kuchcinski.
During the event weekend, Mr. Kuchcinski will conduct demonstrations of horseshoe pitching technique, and the students will have the chance to compete in a tournament. We’re planning other events too, including Segway demonstrations, carriage rides, a tour of the prestigious Riverstone Farms.
The Event includes Friday night dinner/mixer, Sat. breakfast and lunch, Segway riding, and one night’s Lodging at the new Foxburg Inn, All for only $125 (double occupancy).
It’s a rare opportunity, and we’re looking forward to it.
By the way, if you’re a student in one of the colleges in the Foxburg area and you’re interested in participating, or if you’d like more information, please contact Dan Kuchcinski at 814-460-9786 or through the Horseshoes for Life website.
The Fall 2008 issue of Let’s Go! features a new Foxburg business and a relatively new Foxburg tradition.
Let’s Go! is a quarterly magazine published by Northwest Pennsylvania’s Great Outdoors and highlights activities and adventures available throughout the region.
The new issue includes a profile of Segway of Western PA, the new tour company in town.
And it highlights the upcoming Foxburg Fall Art, Wine and Food Festival, which will take place October 12.
There will be three weddings, a golf fundraiser, a segway tour, several receptions and a performance at Lincoln Hall. The river and bike trail will probably be packed also. There were canoes and the river and there are several cars in the parking lot loaded with bikes.
The pizza shop opened Monday and they’ve been packed all week. Maybe they should have named it differently because their breakfast and lunch trades have been well received. We’re working on some kind of partnering with them for breakfast and room service.
Dr. Steffee converted the first barn of his barn complex to an event center. Tomorrow a young couple will get married at six o’clock at the Episcopal Church and then they will be taken by horse and carriage to the barn for a very nice reception. Another carriage will bring a bride from Lincoln Hall to the Allegheny Grille for a wedding at 4 o’clock.
This doesn’t count all the motorcycle folks who will be coming to the winery. They’re regulars on sunny summer weekends.
It’s going to be busy and lively, and so much fun!
